Pashupatinath Temple Awaits the Arrival of Teej Devotees, Security Tightened

Teej, the largest Hindu festival for women, celebrations are set to kick off nationwide this Monday. The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has been diligently preparing to accommodate the influx of women devotees at the Pashupatinath Temple.

During a press briefing held on Friday at the temple premises, PADT officials outlined their commitment to offering enhanced facilities and crowd management during the festival. They assured the public of their readiness to welcome thousands of devotees on the auspicious day.

To ensure the safety and orderly conduct of the festivities, police personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and other security agencies, alongside volunteers, will be deployed in the Pashupati area. A total of around 2,000 security personnel will be on duty.

The temple’s four gates will be open to visitors from 3 a.m. until late evening, except during the two regular rituals, Shreeyanta Pooja and Mahabhog (secret worship). The northern, southern, and eastern gates will serve as entrances, while the western gate will be designated for exits. Special arrangements have been made to facilitate the entry of visitors with disabilities and senior citizens through any gate.

To ensure uninterrupted mobile services in the crowded area, Nepal Telecom and Ncell will establish BTS VAN stations.

Additionally, PADT has organized four separate lines for devotees to offer their worship to Lord Shiva at Pashupatinath from different locations around the temple. They have urged visitors to dress modestly, avoid wearing valuable ornaments, and refrain from bringing small children.

Gauri Shankar Parajuli, the officiating chief of the Culture Preservation Division of PADT, has requested an increased presence of women police personnel in the core areas of Pashupatinath Temple and its surroundings to enhance security during the festival.
