Nepal Police Bids Farewell to Cricketers Heading to T20 World Cup
In a ceremonial send-off at the Nepal Police Headquarters on Friday, Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar bid farewell to six cricket players from the Nepal Police Sports Committee. These players have been selected to represent Nepal in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup scheduled to start on June 1, 2024, in the United States and West Indies.
The cricketers representing the national team are Dipendra Singh Airee, Gulsan Jha, Kushal Bhurtel, Lalit Rajbanshi, Karan KC, and Sagar Dhakal. Their selection highlights the significant contribution of the Nepal Police to the country’s sports sector, particularly in cricket.
Inspector General Kunwar, expressing his pride, stated, “It’s a moment of great pride for the Nepal Police Organization. We are not only enforcing law and order but also playing a crucial role in promoting sports and nurturing talents who achieve national and international accolades.”
During the ceremony, Kunwar encouraged the players to show utmost dedication and high morale, emphasizing that their participation in such a global event brings honor to the entire nation and particularly to the Nepal Police.
The event saw the presence of high-ranking officials including the Additional Inspector General of Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Senior Police Officers, and other distinguished guests, all united in their support for the athletes poised to represent Nepal on the world stage.
