Government Agrees to Increase Allowances for Federal Parliament Secretariat Employees

The government has agreed to increase the allowances of employees working in the Federal Parliament Secretariat. This agreement was reached on Monday during a meeting between a facilitation committee led by the Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Padam Giri, and representatives of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Employees Union in Kathmandu.

The union, which had been staging protests to press for an 11-point demand, welcomed the agreement. The seven-point agreement includes notable increases in various allowances for the employees.

According to the agreement:

-The monthly education allowance for employees will be increased by Rs 300.
-The daily meal allowance for overtime work will see a rise of Rs 100.
-Housing allowances provided to parliament employees will also be increased.

Additionally, the government and the union agreed to review Annex 12 of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Employees Administration Regulation, 2008, every three years to ensure the allowances and other benefits remain up to date.
