Police directed to probe alleged bribery for equivalence certificate: Home Minister
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said the police have been already directed to investigate the statement by a lawmaker that he had to bribe the people at a subordinate body of the Education Ministry for his son’s certificate equivalence.
In a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, the Minister said the government is serious about the subsequent concerns of lawmakers over the statement by a former Minister and lawmaker.
He said he also personally talked to the lawmaker about the matter and urged him to reveal the identity of an individual who received the bribe.
It may be noted Dr Birendra Mahato of Janata Samajbadi Party had recently in the House claimed that he had to offer a bribe to secure the equivalence of his son’s academic certificate from Sanothimi of Bhaktapur.
