The Government of Nepal has decided to provide free medical treatment to those injured during last Friday’s protests by supporters of the former monarch. Additionally, authorities will investigate incidents of vandalism and take action against those found responsible, while measures will be implemented to prevent future unrest.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, while announcing the decisions of the Monday Cabinet meeting, also shared that the Government of Japan will provide a grant of 573 million Japanese Yen for the Dhulikhel Hospital Trauma and Emergency Service Center Improvement Project.
The Cabinet has also approved the basis and format of revenue-sharing for provinces and local levels for the fiscal years 2082/83 to 2086/87, along with financial equalization grant allocations for the fiscal year 2082/83. Furthermore, Choodamani Chapagain has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Stock Exchange Ltd., while Dr. Pradhuman Raj Pandey, a senior agricultural economist at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, has been named Executive Director of the Kalimati Fruit and Vegetable Market Development Committee.
The government also reiterated decisions from the March 28 Cabinet meeting, including directives to the Ministry of Health and Population to ensure free medical care for those injured in the protests.
