Activities related to Pancheshwor project to be forwarded within a month: Minister Saud

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Prakash Saud, has said an understanding has been recently reached between Nepal and India to forward procedural activities of Pancheshwor project within a month.

Sharing the information that minister-level discussion was held about the project during the recent visit of the External Affairs Minister of India, Minister Saud mentioned that decision was taken to forward the activities of the project within a month.

Inaugurating the Municipal-Level President Running Shield Tournament started at Krishnapur municipality of Kanchanpur district from today, he explained that Prime Ministers of both countries also discussed about the project during India visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

“There will be improvement in Nepal’s economy while selling the power produced from this project to India”, he stressed, adding, employment opportunity would also be created from this grand project.

Saying an agreement was signed to sell 10,000 MW electricity within 10 years, Minister Saud underscored that country’s economy could be uplift from agriculture, tourism and power production.

On a different note, he shared that 10 Nepalis lost their lives in Russia-Ukraine war and application has been filed for the rescue of 115 Nepali missing in Russia.

Some Nepali youths joined Russian army force despite government’s request not to join the force and some of them lost their lives, he added. The government has no policy to send Nepalis in risky countries for employment, stated the Foreign Affairs Minister.

Foreign Affairs Minister Saud mentioned that efforts were underway to bring back safely to those who are in Russia, to bring the bodies and to rescue the injured.

Sharing that the government has been continuously taking efforts for the rescue to Bipin Joshi of Kanchanpur, who is said to be under the control of Hamas, he informed that they have got assurance from Qatar for its support in this regard.
