Army’s role in controlling natural disasters commendable: Gandaki Province CM Pandey
Chief Minister of the Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey has today said the role of the Nepal Army in controlling incidents of natural disasters and in search and rescue efforts has been highly commendable.
There have been important role of security forces, concerned authorities and local people in responding to disaster incidents, he said while addressing a mock drill for Nepali Army organised at Byas Municipality-10 by the Kalibhanjyang Battalion (E), the Nepal Army.
“Be it during and after the 2015 earthquake and air accidents at different times, the Nepal Army did show highly commendable performances. It is not possible for a single person and institutions to respond to disasters. Collective efforts are required,” he said.
The provincial government has continued to allocate budget for disaster management, he said.
Similarly, Major General Dipak Baniya said the Nepal Army has been playing an important role in saving lives of people from natural disasters through search and rescue efforts. Also, the municipality mayor Baikuntha Neupane called for collective efforts to reduce incidents of natural disasters.
