Australian Ambassador Volk Promotes Cultural Exchange and Collaborates on Anti-Trafficking Initiatives

Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Felicity Volk, was on a productive visit to eastern Nepal on Friday. The ambassador shared her enriching experiences on the social media platform X, showcasing her engagement with the local community and support for various initiatives.

Ambassador Volk’s first post featured two captivating photos. The first image depicted her adorned in traditional Nepali cultural dress, symbolizing her respect and appreciation for the local customs. The second photo captured a heartwarming moment with two Nepali girls, highlighting the ambassador’s connection with the younger generation.

In her post, Ambassador Volk pledged, “I promised Mayor Ran Bahadur Rai @suryodayamun that I would be a goodwill ambassador for his beautiful municipality & support efforts to promote tourism to Ilam. At the renowned tea gardens, I joined Nepali tourists in celebrating the rich cultural diversity of Koshi Province.”

 

Just an hour before this post, Ambassador Volk shared another update on the platform, showcasing a productive discussion with Mayor Ran Bahadur Rai. The ambassador commended Suryodaya Municipality as, “a model ‘child-friendly’ municipality & a leader in innovative local govt service delivery and economic promotion. Congrats to Mayor Rai and officials @suryodayamun. Great to be working together on anti-trafficking and ending GBV programs.”

 

Ambassador Volk’s commitment to these crucial initiatives reflects the shared values and goals of Australia and Nepal in addressing pressing social issues.
