Parliamentarian Dr. Sharma Donates Rs 2 Million to Children’s Hospital

Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) and prominent entrepreneur, Dr. Sunil Sharma, has made a generous contribution of two million rupees to support the construction of a Children’s Hospital, spearheaded by Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Dr. Bhagwan Koirala.

In a significant gesture of philanthropy, Parliamentarian Sharma visited the under-construction site of the Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH) located at Hepali Height in Kathmandu today, where he extended his financial assistance.

Expressing his motivation for the donation, Dr. Sharma emphasized his admiration for Dr. Koirala’s commendable initiative, citing it as a compelling reason for his support towards the noble cause.

The Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH) has outlined an ambitious plan to establish specialized children’s hospitals in all seven provinces of Nepal, in addition to the one in Kathmandu. Dr. Koirala, serving as the Chairperson of KIOCH, disclosed plans to replicate the successful model of the hospital already operational in Damak, Jhapa, with the construction of a 100-bed facility in Kathmandu.

Furthermore, Dr. Koirala revealed the organization’s intentions to extend their reach by constructing 50-bed hospitals in each of the seven provinces subsequent to the establishment of the Kathmandu facility.

The generous donation by Dr. Sharma not only underscores his commitment to social welfare but also epitomizes the spirit of collaboration and solidarity in addressing critical healthcare needs, particularly for the vulnerable segment of society. Such acts of benevolence contribute significantly towards building a healthier and more resilient future for the nation’s children.
