Bagmati Province Sees 60 Fatalities, Over 1,000 Injuries in Road Accidents in First Quarter of Fiscal Year

In the first three months of the fiscal year 2081/82, road accidents in Bagmati Province led to 60 deaths and 1,030 injuries, according to a report from the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office in Chitwan. A total of 397 accidents were recorded across 10 districts during this period.

Traffic police have taken action to improve road safety by collecting fines from traffic violators, amounting to Rs 27.9 million from mid-August to mid-October. During this time, 35,085 drivers faced penalties for breaking traffic rules.

To curb speeding and enhance monitoring, authorities have deployed CCTV cameras and radar guns along the East-West Highway. Traffic police continue to enforce speed limits and safety measures to reduce road accidents in Bagmati Province.
