Bal Krishna Khand Will Receive Justice, Says Deuba

In a significant address at the 1st Convention of Rupandehi District Committee of Nepali Congress (NC) on Tuesday, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba voiced optimism about party leader Bal Krishna Khand receiving justice amid his current judicial custody for the investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugees scam.

Responding to concerns raised by district-level leaders who asserted that Khand was framed and felt the party’s support was lacking, President Deuba hinted at his commitment to protecting Khand. “It is natural to be concerned about Khand because he has represented the district many times. We shouldn’t speak on sub judice cases. But I am hopeful that he will get justice,” Deuba stated.

The convention also shed light on broader issues within the party. Deuba addressed the challenges faced by Gautam Buddha International Airport, citing a lack of necessary equipment hindering its smooth operation.

NC Joint General Secretary Kishor Singh Rathour added a critical perspective, acknowledging the party’s potency in the country but expressing concern over its internal dynamics. Rathour remarked that impatience among party leaders and cadres was contributing to the party’s weakening.

Central committee member and Member of Parliament Dr. Chandra Bhandari further highlighted a growing concern of betrayal within the party, asserting that such actions were undermining the strength of the Nepali Congress.

NC leader and Lumbini Chief Minister Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary raised issues related to provincial governments, lamenting that they were not being allowed to exercise the rights enshrined in the constitution.
