Biplab Accuses Government of Double Standards and Inaction

In a recent meeting of the Socialist Front held at the Prime Minister’s Residence in Baluwatar, CPN General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplab’ voiced dissatisfaction with the government’s activities and questioned the effectiveness of the Socialist Front. Biplab raised concerns about the growing tendency among government leaders to sign agreements without proper implementation.

During a press briefing after the meeting, Biplab stated, “I said in the meeting that the Front has failed to become a dynamic force. We have seen double standards among leaders in the government. There is a growing tendency to sign agreements but not implement them.”

The Socialist Front, comprising CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), and CPN, was formed as a forum of political parties following socialist ideals. Biplab expressed his belief that the Front has lost momentum and the initial motive behind its formation is no longer present.

Biplab also informed leaders about the arrest warrant issued for leaders of his party, including himself, during the meeting. He demanded that the government adhere to the three-point agreement reached with the CPN. The Kathmandu District Court had issued a 35-day notice for Biplab and other leaders to surrender on December 4.

The CPN, previously involved in armed struggle against the government, transitioned into the political mainstream after signing a three-point agreement in March 2021. The agreement included the government lifting the ban on the group, releasing all party members and cadres in jail, and dropping all cases against them. In return, the CPN committed to renouncing violence and resolving issues through dialogue.
