Bordering Villages in Arunachal Pradesh Express Outrage Over China’s Claims, Reiterate Commitment to India

Residents of villages in the border areas of Arunachal Pradesh are expressing their strong displeasure over China’s recent claims and actions regarding the Northeastern state. They are resolute in asserting that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inseparable part of India.

In August of this year, China released a ‘standard map’ that included Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as part of its territory, a move that drew condemnation and rejection from India.

The villagers of Sengnup, Kharseneng, and Grengkhar, located in the Tawang sector, voiced their sentiments, emphasizing that they live in a peaceful and secure environment largely due to the presence of the Indian army and the development initiatives undertaken by the government.

Sange Dorjee, a resident of Kharseneng, praised the efforts of the Indian government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Arunachal Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu. He noted that significant developmental work has been carried out in the bordering villages, including the improvement of road infrastructure. Dorjee highlighted that the government has provided support to local farmers, which has been greatly appreciated by the villagers.

Karchung, a resident of Grengkhar village, expressed a strong sense of pride in being an Indian citizen. He pledged unwavering support to the Indian army and the government, emphasizing that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. He stated that they would stand firm against any external claims and, if necessary, stand with the Indian army in defense of their land.

Another villager, Yontan, reiterated that India’s unity is paramount, and that Arunachal Pradesh will forever remain an integral part of the country.

The Vibrant Villages Programme, approved in February 2023, has played a significant role in improving the lives of people in these border villages. The program includes financial contributions from the central government, with specific funds allocated for road connectivity and infrastructural development. This initiative aims to comprehensively develop villages in border areas, enhancing their quality of life and infrastructure.

The steadfast resolve of the residents of these border villages underscores their commitment to India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, regardless of external claims and pressures.
