CAAN Suspends Licenses of Two Pilots and Airport Chief After Airport Brawl

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended the licenses of two senior captains, Senior Captain Santosh Shah and Captain Sanjib Shrestha, employed by Tara Air. The decision came after the two pilots engaged in a physical altercation within the premises of Manthali Airport in Ramechhap earlier today.

CAAN spokesperson and deputy director general, Jagannath Niraula, confirmed the suspension, citing a breach of national security standards as the reason. The licenses of the two senior captains have been suspended indefinitely pending further investigation. Niraula stated, “Their licenses will be revoked, or other penalty actions, as per the law, might be taken against them after a detailed investigation.”

The exact cause of the altercation between the two pilots, who are from the same company, remains unknown, leaving aviation authorities puzzled. CAAN has assured a thorough investigation into the incident to uncover the underlying reasons.

Similarly, Ramechhap Airport chief Ashok Thapa has also faced suspension by CAAN. An investigation will be launched to determine any potential involvement or negligence on his part regarding the airport brawl.
