Low Voter Turnout Marks By-Elections in Ilam and Bajhang

Voter turnout was notably low in today’s by-elections held in the Ilam-2 federal constituency and the Bajhang (A) seat of the Sudur Paschim Provincial Assembly.

Polls, which opened at 7 am and closed at 5 pm, recorded a subdued participation from the electorate.

Only about 55 percent of registered voters had cast their ballots in Ilam-2. In Bajhang-1, the turnout was even lower, with approximately 51 percent of voters participating.

The voting process was largely peaceful, marred only by a minor dispute at one polling station in Ilam. Authorities reported no major incidents and confirmed that the elections proceeded smoothly in other locations.
