Can UML Make Waves in Winter Parliament?

The CPN (UML) Parliamentary Party has issued a whip, directing UML lawmakers to actively participate in the upcoming winter session of the federal Parliament, which kicks off today at 4 pm. The directive, in accordance with the party’s decision made during a meeting on Sunday, aims to position the UML as a robust and impactful main opposition party during this parliamentary session.

Mahesh Bartaula, the whip of the party, emphasized that the UML is committed to playing a more substantial role than ever before, ensuring a stronger presence and effective contribution in parliamentary deliberations compared to previous sessions.

The parliamentary party meeting further outlined key areas of focus for UML lawmakers, instructing them to actively engage in the formulation of legislation crucial for the implementation of the constitution, social justice, good governance, prosperity, and national interest. The directive reflects the party’s determination to actively shape the legislative landscape in line with its core principles.

Addressing broader national concerns, the UML has called upon its lawmakers to advocate for measures that address the issue of youth brain drain to foreign countries. The party is urging the government to take prompt actions to bring back Nepali youths facing difficulties abroad. Additionally, the parliamentary meeting drew attention to the deteriorating peace and security situation in West Asia, emphasizing the need for government intervention to safeguard the well-being of Nepali citizens in the region.

As the winter session begins, all eyes are on the CPN (UML) to see if it can indeed make waves and fulfill its commitment to being a formidable force in shaping the legislative agenda and addressing pressing national issues.
