Chinese Visa Fees Waived for Nepali Citizens from May 1

The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu has announced that Nepali citizens will be exempt from visa fees for travel to China starting May 1, 2024. The announcement was made by the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, on the social media platform X.

While the visa fee exemption is set to enhance travel ease, the embassy clarified that express and service fees will still apply. Additionally, applications submitted before the effective date will be subject to the previous fee structure.

This visa fee exemption follows the recent diplomatic talks during Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha’s visit to China in March.

“Removing the visa fee barrier will likely increase both inbound and outbound travels, strengthening our tourism sector,” stated Maniraj Lamichhane, Director of Nepal Tourism Board.
