Chitra Bahadur KC’s Plea: Save Nepal from Brain Drain!

In a poignant address during the inauguration of the 61st anniversary of Dhaulagiri Bahumukhi Campus Baglung, Chitra Bahadur KC, Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha, issued a fervent plea to stem the tide of youth migration plaguing Nepal. KC’s impassioned speech highlighted the urgent need for Nepali youth to engage in politics and invest their efforts in their homeland rather than seeking opportunities abroad.

Expressing deep concern over the escalating rate of youth migration, KC attributed this phenomenon to a fundamental lack of political awareness among students. He underscored the pivotal role politics plays in shaping the nation’s future and implored students to comprehend its nuances, asserting that political engagement enables individuals to identify and pursue opportunities within Nepal’s borders.

KC decried the pervasive sentiment among some individuals who propagate the belief that there is nothing left for them in Nepal, condemning the dissemination of anti-political rhetoric and the encouragement of emigration through the acquisition of foreign language skills. He lamented the exodus of Nepali youth, including his own children, as a reflection of this disillusionment with the nation’s prospects.

Drawing attention to the influx of Indian workers in the Nepali market, KC warned of the deleterious consequences of continued brain drain on Nepal’s sovereignty. He urged immediate action to overhaul the education policy, citing the urgent need to introduce scientific education in universities and create an educational framework conducive to industrialization.

Quoting Nelson Mandela, KC underscored the detrimental impact of flawed education policies, which have resulted in vacant campuses and schools across Nepal while airports remain bustling with departing youth. He reminisced about his own activism during his student days, advocating for democracy and opposing autocracy, and called upon the government and political leadership to prioritize the nation’s sustainable development.

In conclusion, Chitra Bahadur KC’s impassioned plea resonated with attendees, serving as a clarion call to safeguard Nepal from the perils of brain drain and revitalize its educational landscape to ensure a prosperous future for generations to come.
