Congress Mahasamiti Meeting: Closed Session Commences Today

The Nepali Congress gears up for a pivotal phase as the closed session of its Mahasamiti meeting commences today, marking a crucial juncture for the party’s internal deliberations and decision-making processes.

The Mahasamiti meeting, which commenced with an opening session on Monday, is set to transition into its closed session starting at 9 am today, according to Krishna Prasad Paudel, the Chief Secretary of the NC Central Office. This closed session marks a significant shift towards in-depth discussions and considerations on a range of crucial topics pertinent to the party’s future trajectory.

A total of five comprehensive reports are slated for submission and subsequent discussion during this phase of the meeting. These reports encompass diverse areas of focus, ranging from policy proposals to organizational structures and contemporary political landscapes.

Key among these reports is the policy proposal put forth by Party Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, the organizational proposal presented by General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, and the contemporary political proposal articulated by General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma.

Additionally, the meeting will delve into proposals concerning the economic situation, prospects, and future directions, led by the party’s spokesperson, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat. Furthermore, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, coordinator of the audit committee, is set to submit the audit report proposal, adding a critical dimension to the discussions.

Meen Bahadur Bishwakarma, coordinator of the information, communication, and publicity department of the party, provided insights into the proceedings, highlighting the comprehensive nature of the proposals to be deliberated upon.

The outcomes of these discussions and deliberations hold significant implications for the future course of the Nepali Congress party. The Mahasamiti meeting, convened at the Sunrise Conference Center in Godavari, Lalitpur, is slated to continue its deliberations until February 22.

With over 2,000 delegates hailing from various regions across the country actively participating in the meeting, the event serves as a forum for robust exchanges of ideas and perspectives, underlining the democratic ethos and organizational vitality of the Nepali Congress party.
