Cricketers Rewarded with Rs 1.3 Million Each for T20 World Cup Qualification
The National Sports Council (NSC) has recommended a significant cash reward for the Nepali men’s cricket team, which secured a spot in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The NSC, in a meeting chaired by Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, made the decision on Tuesday to celebrate the team’s remarkable achievement.
The NSC has proposed a cash prize of Rs 1.3 million for each of the 15 players who were part of the squad, including the head coach, assistant coach, physio, and team manager. The total reward for the team and its support staff amounts to a generous Rs 20.4 million. Each player will receive Rs 1.3 million, while the head coach will be awarded Rs 390,000, and the assistant coach, team manager, and physio will receive Rs 195,000 each.
Nepal earned their coveted spot in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by defeating the UAE by a convincing eight-wicket margin in the semifinals of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier held in Kathmandu last week. Although the home side was ultimately defeated by Oman in the final, their journey to qualify for the T20 World Cup has been a significant achievement and a source of pride for the nation.
The cash rewards recommended by the NSC reflect the nation’s recognition and appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the Nepali men’s cricket team and its support staff, providing well-deserved motivation for the players and reinforcing the growth of cricket in Nepal.
