Deputy PM Bishnu Paudel Urges Nepali Diaspora to Invest in Nation’s Development
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel called upon the Nepali diaspora to support Nepal’s development by investing in key sectors like energy, tourism, and information technology. Speaking at an event hosted by the Nepali Embassy in Washington, D.C., where he is attending the annual meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, Paudel emphasized the importance of leveraging skills, capital, and knowledge gained abroad to propel Nepal’s progress.
Highlighting the collaboration between the CPN (UML) and Nepali Congress parties, he described the government’s commitment to political stability and prioritizing development projects that align with citizens’ aspirations. “There are ample investment opportunities in Nepal, and we are dedicated to creating a favorable environment with high assurance of returns,” he told attendees, encouraging them to invest confidently in their homeland.
Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), echoed Paudel’s message, emphasizing the critical need for additional capital to drive Nepal’s economic and social progress. He called for strong support from non-resident Nepalis to help meet these needs.
During the interaction, attendees raised questions about Nepal’s tax policies, investment-friendly environment, and technological readiness, underscoring a keen interest in exploring opportunities to contribute to Nepal’s future.
