Dr. Govinda KC Arrested Again for Protests in Prohibited Zone

Dr. Govinda KC, a well-known activist and medical professional, has once again been taken into custody for staging demonstrations and protests in an area designated as prohibited by the government. This latest arrest occurred at Maitighar, raising concerns about the suppression of dissenting voices in the country.

This recent incident comes on the heels of Dr. KC’s arrest on Saturday, where he and nine supporters were detained and later released. The persistent activism of Dr. KC underscores his unwavering commitment to various demands aimed at improving the healthcare system and medical education in the country.

As of now, Dr. Govinda KC is being held at a police station in Singha Durbar, prompting discussions about the right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression. His repeated protests emphasize his dedication to advocating for change and holding the government accountable for implementing previous agreements.

Dr. KC’s demands include the immediate implementation of past agreements, the augmentation of government hospital capacity through increased staffing, provision of free medicines, expeditious establishment of the health science institute in Geta, and ensuring the establishment of at least one government medical college in each province, as stipulated by the Medical Education Act.
