Dr. Govinda KC to start a hunger strike from today
In a bold move aimed at advocating for significant reforms in the health and education sectors, renowned activist and senior orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Govinda KC, has declared his intention to embark on a three-day hunger strike, commencing this Friday evening.
Addressing the media at a press conference today, Dr. KC outlined his key objectives behind the hunger strike. He emphasized the urgent need for authorities to implement crucial reforms in healthcare and education. The activist, known for his unwavering commitment to social causes, expressed his determination to exert pressure on the government and political entities to address the longstanding issues plaguing these sectors.
Dr. KC’s demands include the prompt conclusion of the transitional justice process, ensuring accountability for crimes against humanity and other heinous offenses committed during the decade-long conflict. He is adamant about securing justice for the families of victims affected by these atrocities.
In addition to his focus on transitional justice, Dr. KC is pushing for improvements in the capacity of government hospitals. He calls for the creation of additional positions for health professionals, as well as the provision of essential medicines free of cost. Furthermore, Dr. KC is advocating for the operationalization of Geta Academy of Medical Studies and the establishment of one government-owned medical college in each of the seven provinces, as outlined in the Medical Education Act.
The hunger strike, according to Dr. KC, is a last resort to draw attention to the pressing issues he believes are vital for the well-being of the nation. As the activist begins his three-day protest, the public awaits responses from authorities regarding the proposed reforms in health, education, and justice.
