Education will be made free until grade 12
Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has said preparation was underway to make education free up to grade 12.
Addressing the 59th anniversary of Bal Sikhshya Secondary School at Balefi rural municipality-7 in Sindhupalchowk on Monday, Minister Basnet shared that discussion with stakeholders has been expedited for the same. “I have already held discussion with stakeholders including the Prime Minister and leaders for the arrangement of free education up to grade 12. A decision will be taken soon in this regard”, he said.
He shared that Bahrabise Municipality, Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality and Tripurasundari Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchok were already provided free tuition up to 12th standard in their schools. Minister Basnet said that in a few years, thousands of students will be able to pursue medical education degree at concessional rates in Nepal.
Minister Basnet said that the government will develop a plan to run one medical college per province.
Also speaking at the program, Minister for Forest and Environment of Bagmati Province, Masina Khadka, pointed out the need to provide technology-based education to meet the needs of the 21st century.
