‘Gaushala 26’ Files Official Complaint Against Online Identity Disclosure; CIB Launches Investigation

In a significant development surrounding the Sandeep Lamichhane rape case, the victim known as ‘Gaushala 26’ has taken legal action against individuals who disclosed her identity on various social media platforms. The complainant, through an official submission to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), alleges a violation of her right to privacy and dignity, characterizing the act as internet-related crimes.

Confirming the initiation of an investigation, SP Pashupati Kumar Ray of the CIB stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the unauthorized disclosure. The case has brought attention to the broader issue of privacy breaches and the misuse of social media platforms.

In a parallel development, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has responded to the incident by taking disciplinary action against one of its members involved in the publicizing of ‘Gaushala 26’ on social media. The party, in a Facebook statement, announced the suspension of the cadre, citing a lack of sensitivity in the use of social media as the grounds for disciplinary measures.

Meanwhile, the cricketer at the center of the controversy, Sandeep Lamichhane, has been convicted in the rape case and sentenced to eight years in jail. The legal proceedings surrounding the case continue, and the incident has sparked a wider conversation about the responsibility and ethical use of social media in sensitive situations.
