HoR Session Adjourned Due to Lack of Quorum

The House of Representatives (HoR) of the Federal Parliament concluded its session today after failing to achieve the required quorum, resulting in the removal of agenda items scheduled for the day.

During the session, Information and Communication Minister Rekha Sharma proposed the consideration of the ‘Second Amendment Bill, 2080 on Political Parties.’ However, the proceedings hit a snag when CPN-UML MP Mahesh Bartaula raised an objection, citing insufficient quorum.

In response to MP Bartaula’s objection, Speaker Devraj Ghimire directed an increase in the number of members present in the meeting. Despite efforts, only 65 out of the required 69 members were present when the meeting was adjourned, thwarting the presentation and consideration of the proposed bill.

The adjournment underscores the challenges facing the legislative process in Nepal and highlights the importance of ensuring adequate representation for the effective functioning of the Federal Parliament.
