Independent Blogger Accuses China of Involvement in Nijjar Killing in Canada

On June 18, 2023, Hardeep Nijjar, a designated terrorist in India, was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia.

Allegations have now emerged from independent blogger Jennifer Zeng, claiming that agents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) were implicated in the killing of separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Zeng asserts that China’s objective was to frame India, sowing discord between India and Western nations.

Zeng, a Chinese-born rights activist and journalist currently residing in the United States, made these allegations in a video posted on the social media platform X. In the video, she labeled Nijjar’s killing as an assassination orchestrated by CCP agents.

According to Zeng, these revelations came from Chinese writer and YouTuber Lao Deng, who currently lives in Canada. Zeng claims that Lao stated that as part of the CCP’s disruption initiative called the “Ignition Plan,” a high-ranking CCP Ministry of State Security official was sent to Seattle, USA, in early June. A secret meeting was held with the objective of sabotaging relations between India and Western nations.

Zeng alleges, “The agents were tasked with assassinating Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the Sikh leader in Canada. Following the meeting, the CCP agents meticulously executed the killing plan.” She further explains their modus operandi, stating that the agents, armed with silenced guns, tracked Nijjar on June 18th, destroyed the dash camera in Nijjar’s car to erase evidence, burned their weapons and disguises after the crime, and left Canada in airplanes the next day.

Zeng also claimed that the killers purposely learned Indian-accented English to frame India. She suggests, “Therefore, they purposely spoke in Indian-accented English…In fact, these actions were part of the scheme by CCP secret agents to frame India.”

Jennifer Zeng also asserted that Lao disclosed that the CCP’s ‘Ignition Plan’ was devised this year after the CCP’s two sessions.

As of now, there has been no response to Jennifer Zeng’s allegations from either the Chinese foreign ministry or the Ministry of External Affairs in India.

Diplomatic tensions between India and Canada escalated after the Canadian government expelled a senior Indian diplomat, accusing India of involvement in the killing of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. India promptly responded by denying any involvement and expelling a senior Canadian diplomat, deeming the claims ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated.’

Amid these escalating tensions, India has called for parity in the number of Canadian diplomats in India. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi stated earlier this month that discussions are ongoing to achieve this parity, given the higher presence of Canadian diplomats in India.
