India Hands Over High Impact Development Project to Myagdi Multiple Campus

The Campus and Hostel Buildings of Myagdi Multiple Campus, constructed with financial assistance of NPR 27.93 million from the Government of India, were formally handed over to the Campus Management Committee today. The project, undertaken under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ initiative, was classified as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP).

The handover ceremony was jointly led by Raj Kumar Thapa, Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Myagdi, and Avinash Kumar Singh, Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu. The event was attended by political representatives, government officials, and social workers.

The Indian grant funded the construction of key infrastructure at the campus, including the Humanities and Management blocks, a girls’ hostel, and other facilities. Implemented through the District Coordination Committee, the project aims to enhance access to higher education and improve learning conditions for the region’s students.

Speaking at the event, representatives from the District Coordination Committee and Myagdi Multiple Campus expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its consistent developmental support. They highlighted that the new infrastructure would benefit the campus’s 950 students—70% of whom are girls—by providing better educational and residential facilities.

Established in 1996, Myagdi Multiple Campus is a community-based institution offering Bachelor’s and master’s level courses. The newly completed project is expected to bolster the education sector in the region significantly.

India’s developmental partnership with Nepal spans multiple sectors, reflecting close ties between the two nations. The implementation of High Impact Community Development Projects underscores India’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s socio-economic development through targeted infrastructure enhancements.
