Journalist Dhami Assaulted in Broad Daylight

Journalist Krishna Singh Dhami, a correspondent for Ratopati.com, fell victim to a brutal attack in broad daylight on Monday, near the central office of the news organization in Bakhundol.

Around 4:30 in the afternoon, Dhami was returning to the office after having lunch when he was assaulted by a group of five to six individuals. The attackers targeted him indiscriminately, causing injuries to his head and other parts of his body. Currently, he is undergoing treatment at Sumeru Hospital in Pulchowk.

This incident follows earlier threats made against Dhami and Ratopati.com by the Biplav-led ANNISU-R on September 12. Dhami had been vocal about receiving constant threats from students associated with Biplav regarding his reporting.

In response to these threats, the Federation of Nepalese Journalists issued a statement, and on September 13, General Secretary Roshan Puri expressed strong objection to the intimidation tactics.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants initially approached Dhami with greetings, but suddenly launched the attack before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

Law enforcement authorities, led by Inspector Pramod Karki of the Police Division Pulchowk, arrived at the site promptly and initiated an investigation. The police have intensified their efforts to locate and apprehend the culprits following the incident.
