Judicial Council Recommends Chief Registrar and Registrar as High Court Judges

The Judicial Council (JC) has recommended Supreme Court Chief Registrar Lal Bahadur Kunwar and Registrar Nirmala Paudel for appointment as judges of the High Court. The decision was made during a JC meeting held earlier in the day.

The JC’s proposal puts forth Lal Bahadur Kunwar as the recommended candidate for the position of High Court Judge in Patan, while Nirmala Paudel has been suggested for the position in High Court Pokhara.

The judicial process in Nepal follows legal provisions where the Chief Justice holds the authority to appoint High Court Judges based on the recommendations presented by the Judicial Council.

In addition to these judicial appointments, Judge Chandra Bahadur Saru, who served at the High Court Tulsipur Butwal Bench, has been transferred to the Nepalgunj Bench of the High Court Tulsipur. This move is expected to bring changes in the dynamics of the Nepalgunj Bench.

Furthermore, the JC has put forward the recommendation for the appointment of Judge Tanka Prasad Gurung, currently serving at the High Court Tulsipur Nepalgunj, as the Chairman of the Revenue Tribunal Nepalgunj. This potential appointment signifies a significant responsibility for Judge Gurung in the realm of revenue-related legal matters.

These recommendations will now be forwarded to the Chief Justice for consideration, and if approved, these appointments and transfers will play a crucial role in shaping the judiciary landscape in the specified regions. The decisions are eagerly awaited as they mark a crucial step in ensuring a robust and efficient judicial system in Nepal.
