Kamal Thapa Calls for Unifying Pro-Monarchy Forces in Nepal

In a bold move aimed at consolidating efforts supporting the restoration of the monarchy in Nepal, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa has proposed the creation of a united front comprising pro-monarchy forces and factions. The suggestion was put forward during a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee in Kathmandu on Monday morning.

Thapa emphasized the need for unity among various royalist factions, recognizing the challenges in achieving party cohesion. Sources close to Thapa revealed that the proposal for a united front is an effort to overcome the existing discord and enhance collaborative efforts.

According to a source quoting Thapa, “Given the immediate challenges in achieving party unity among proponents of monarchy, Thapa’s proposal is to establish a united front for collaborative efforts.” It is reported that Thapa is preparing to issue a formal call for the formation of this front through an official statement later today.

Prominent political figures advocating for the reinstatement of the monarchy in Nepal, including RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden and Keshar Bahadur Bista, are actively involved in this movement. Simultaneously, campaigner Durga Prasai has initiated a separate movement aligning with the pro-monarchy cause.

In a strategic move to bridge divides within the royalist community, efforts are reportedly underway to enlist former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand to lead the envisioned front. Chand is perceived as having the potential to bring together disparate factions and foster unity among supporters of the monarchy.

Thapa’s proposal extends beyond the reinstatement of the monarchy, encompassing the goal of dismantling what he views as a corrupt system operating under the guise of a federal republic. He envisions the establishment of a constitutional monarchy and a Hindu nation, advocating for the abolition of federalism in favor of good governance and prosperity.

RPP Nepal, under Thapa’s leadership, is expected to extend invitations to various parties and groups to join forces and form a formidable national front aligned with the current demands and aspirations of the people. Thapa’s proposal emphasizes the importance of collaboration among like-minded individuals to realize positive transformations in the country, rather than operating in isolation.

As anticipation builds, political observers are closely watching the developments surrounding Thapa’s call for a united front, which could reshape the political landscape in Nepal.
