Kathmandu Metropolis Day: PM Dahal Highlights Cooperation and Coordination

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ reaffirmed the government’s commitment to bolstering financial transfers through strategic policy reforms and strengthening the foundational structure of local governance.

Addressing the 29th Kathmandu Metropolitan Day event in the capital on Friday, PM Dahal outlined the government’s dedication to empowering local governments with increased resources, aligning closely with the spirit of the constitution and recognizing the crucial role of local governance.

Emphasizing the three-tier government structure established by the constitution, Prachanda stressed the importance of cooperation, coexistence, and coordination to ensure effective governance at all levels.

Identifying lawmaking as a top priority, he emphasized, “The creation and systematic implementation of federal laws are essential to strengthen and optimize the federal democratic republic for the benefit of the people.”

Recognizing Kathmandu’s global significance as a historic and cultural city, the Prime Minister praised its unique characteristics, hailing it as an internationally renowned open museum.

Commending Kathmandu Metropolis for recent achievements in urban aesthetics, education, public amenities, and cultural heritage preservation, Dahal expressed positive motivation for the federal government. He acknowledged the metropolis’s initiatives in regulation, scholarship, job creation, and substance abuse prevention, expressing gratitude to the metropolitan family.

Encouraging continued progress, PM Dahal applauded efforts to develop a clean, green, vibrant, and historically rich capital city. He highlighted the metropolis’s role in cultivating a modern city while preserving cultural splendor, extending best wishes for Metropolis Day.

The Prime Minister urged collective cooperation, emphasizing the shared goal of building a developed Kathmandu under the federal government system, rooted in a culture of cooperation. He fondly recalled the historic declaration of Kathmandu municipality as the country’s first metropolis in 2052 BS.
