Lumbini Province Chief Accepts Resignation of Forests and Environment Minister

Lumbini Province Chief Chet Narayan Acharya has approved the resignation of Badshah Kurmi, the Province Government’s Minister for Forests and Environment. Kurmi, who was elected to the Province Assembly on a Nepali Congress ticket from Banke provincial electoral constituency number 3 (B), had been serving as the Minister since July 24.

Kurmi’s resignation follows protests from human rights campaigners who had raised concerns about his alleged involvement in the death of a woman in Banke. The resignation is aimed at facilitating an investigation into these serious allegations.
