Maoist Center decides to seek consensus within ruling coalition

The CPN (Maoist Centre) has concluded that it would not seek any alternative immediately to the existing alliance. The office bearers’ meeting held at party headquarters, Koteshwor reached such conclusion on Sunday.

Following the meeting, General Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung said the party made a preliminary review of the November 20 election to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly. He further said the meeting did not enter the issue relating to the formation of next government. All aspects of the election and next government would be discussed by calling a meeting of the existing ruling alliance.

The alliance meeting is called for Monday. “There is no dispute in the alliance nor has any issue on whether to break the alliance. No issue has been raised prominently on alternative approach to government formation. We’re mainly focused on election review,” General Secretary reiterated.

According to him, the party expressed gratitude to all sides concerned on election. The meeting reviewed the constraints and weaknesses of the party in relation to election.

“We are in alliance. So, alliance meeting discusses broadly on formation of next government,” he added.
