Maoist Center Initiates Discussions on Draft Statute

CPN (Maoist Center) has commenced discussions on its draft statute, signaling a pivotal moment for the party’s future trajectory. During the standing committee meeting held on Friday, CPN (Maoist Center) Vice President and Coordinator of the Statute Drafting Committee unveiled the draft statute, marking a crucial step forward in the party’s internal governance reforms.

According to party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota, the unveiling of the draft statute saw active participation from key leaders including General Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung, Deputy General Secretaries Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Barsha Man Pun, and Janardan Sharma, among others. The leaders shared their perspectives, with a predominant focus on embedding socialist norms, values, and ideals within the statute.

Sapkota highlighted that there was a consensus among leaders regarding the need to reflect socialist ideology prominently in the statute. Additionally, suggestions were made to streamline party committees and reduce the size of the central committee to 151 members, although these deliberations are slated for further exploration during the statute convention.

The standing committee extensively deliberated on both theoretical and policy-oriented aspects of the draft statute, with discussions set to continue on Saturday. Looking ahead, CPN (Maoist Center) is gearing up for its central committee meeting scheduled for Sunday and Monday, where further deliberations on the draft statute are anticipated. The party is poised to convene its statute convention from February 13 to 15, marking a crucial juncture in shaping its organizational structure and ideological framework.
