Maoist Centre Divides Responsibilities Among Leaders for Provincial Affairs

In a recent Standing Committee (SC) meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Parisdanda, the ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) has taken significant strides in organizing its provincial structure. The meeting, convened today, finalized the division of responsibilities for province in-charges and co-in-charges, marking a strategic move towards efficient governance and representation across the provinces.

According to the decisions made in the meeting, several prominent leaders have been assigned key roles in various provinces. Haribol Gajurel has been appointed as the Koshi Province in-charge, alongside Sabitra Kumar Kafle as its co-in-charge. Leelamani Pokharel and Bishow Nath Shah will respectively serve as in-charge and co-in-charge for the Madhes Province. Agni Prasad Sapkota, the Party Vice-Chairperson and Spokesperson, will take charge as the Bagmati Province in-charge, while Dinanath Sharma and Hariraj Adhikari will handle responsibilities for the Gandaki Province as in-charge and co-in-charge, respectively.

Other appointments include Chakrapani Khanal as the Lumbini Province in-charge, Kul Prasad KC as co-in-charge, Kali Bahadur Malla as the Karnali Province in-charge, and Girirajmani Pokharel with Bina Magar as co-in-charge for the Sudurpaschim Province.

Furthermore, Pampha Bhusal will lead the Prabash Province Committee (Middle East), Laxman Panta will oversee affairs in India with TB Pathak as co-in-charge, and Surendra Kumar Karki will be in charge of the Europe-America Committee. Hitman Shakya will helm the Special Province Committee, accompanied by Yesodha Subedi as co-in-charge.

However, amidst these appointments, Deputy General-Secretary Janardan Sharma expressed dissent during the meeting, highlighting reservations regarding the distribution of responsibilities. Sharma argued that the current division did not align with the party’s foundational purpose and appeared to be influenced by the recent legislative session.

Additionally, the meeting addressed several pressing political issues, including concerns related to loan shark victims and dairy farmers, urging the government to address these matters promptly.

Furthermore, a change in schedule was announced for the party’s Terai Madhes National Awareness Campaign, now slated to commence on March 28 instead of March 14, citing the need for adequate preparation time. Similarly, the Himal-Pahad-Terai (Mountain-Hill-Terai) National Unity campaign is scheduled for launch on April 27.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the commitment of people’s representatives at all levels to fulfill their elected responsibilities diligently, emphasizing the party’s dedication to effective governance and public service.
