MP Singh Urges Ban on Night Buses During Rainy Season

Amaresh Kumar Singh, a Member of the House of Representatives (HoR), has called for a ban on night buses on vulnerable road sections during the two to three months of the rainy season.

During today’s House of Representatives meeting, Singh emphasized the need to halt night bus operations in risky areas during this critical period.

“If the government had issued instructions to stop night buses, we could have avoided this damage,” Singh stated. “You can’t predict when a landslide will occur in the dark; during the day, at least you’d be aware of the conditions. For two to three months of the rainy season, night buses should not operate on dangerous roads.”

Singh highlighted the Narayangadh-Mugling road section as the “lifeline” of the federal capital, Kathmandu, stressing that the overall state of the country’s roads can be gauged by the condition of this particular route.

“This road is essential for buses coming from the east and those from the far west,” he noted. “If the lifeline is in this condition, we can only imagine what the rest of the roads must be like.”
