NC Insists on Formation of Parliamentary Probe Committee as Essential Demand

In a recent parliamentary party meeting, the Nepali Congress (NC) has emphasized its demand for the establishment of a parliamentary committee to undertake an impartial investigation into the alleged cooperative scam, implicating Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in financial misconduct. According to NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak, the decision was reinforced by purported evidence of Lamichhane’s involvement in the misappropriation of cooperative funds.

The main opposition party, during its meeting held today, announced that it would reintroduce the proposal for the formation of the investigative committee in the ongoing federal parliament session. This demand arises following a lack of action in previous parliamentary sessions. Lekhak expressed concerns that the issue has transcended party lines and has become a widespread public concern.

Additionally, the NC warned that the functioning of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly might face disruptions if the probe committee is not established promptly. The party also expressed sorrow over recent losses due to fires and wildfires across the nation, urging the government to swiftly provide relief to affected families and take preventive measures against future incidents.

The meeting also highlighted the urgent need for addressing the drinking water crisis in hilly regions, exacerbated by forest fires damaging water pipelines. The NC extended condolences to the families who have suffered losses in these disasters and paid tribute to the victims.
