NC Leader Dr. Koirala Urges Independent Run in NA Elections

In a compelling address at Biratnagar Airport on Thursday, Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala voiced his strong support for the party’s independent participation in the upcoming National Assembly elections, citing existential concerns if aligned with alliance parties.

Dr. Koirala expressed his reservations about the current government’s leadership, emphasizing the necessity of instilling hope in the people and overcoming economic challenges through a change in government leadership. He urged a swift transition of leadership to navigate the nation out of the prevailing economic downturn.

The NC leader also disclosed that the Nepali Congress Mahasamiti meeting had to be deferred to make way for preparations related to the impending National Assembly elections. Despite this, he assured party members and supporters that the Mahasamiti meeting would take place as originally scheduled.

Taking a direct stance on the functioning of the government, Dr. Koirala called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to promptly release the government’s annual report. He emphasized the executive role of the prime minister in a multi-party system, stating, “In a multi-party system, the prime minister is the executive. It makes no sense for the ministers to publish the report card. Nepali people, like myself, want to know what the Prime Minister has accomplished in one year. He should publish the report card immediately.”
