NC Urges Government Action Amidst Protests at Balkumari; Emphasizes Investigation and Dialogue

In the aftermath of the recent clashes during the demonstration at Balkumari in Lalitpur, the Nepali Congress has urged the government to take the demands of the young protesters seriously, particularly in allowing them to apply for the Korean language test. The party expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate deaths of two individuals and emphasized the need for prompt attention to the protesters’ demands, including arranging treatment for the injured.

The demonstration, held in front of the Employment Permit System (EPS) office, saw heightened tensions, leading to the setting ablaze of the minister’s vehicle, resulting in casualties and injuries during the protestors’ detention. Min Bishwakarma, the head of the publicity department for the Nepali Congress, stated, “Nepali Congress has paid serious attention to the incident.”

In a formal statement, Min Bishwakarma further conveyed, “We request the government of Nepal to thoroughly investigate the incident, study the facts, provide proper treatment to the injured, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to addressing the concerns raised by the protestors.”

The Nepali Congress not only condemned the clashes but also urged all citizens to adopt peaceful, dignified, and non-violent means to express their grievances. Min Bishwakarma emphasized the importance of exercising restraint while advocating for their rights, underlining the role of peaceful dialogue in resolving issues.
