NEA to Reconnect Power Supply to Industries

In a significant move responding to a directive from the Council of Ministers, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced its decision to reinstate power supply lines to industries facing disconnection due to outstanding dues.

During a crucial meeting held this morning, the NEA formulated plans to restore electricity connections to industries whose power supply had been severed due to non-payment. The decision comes after these industries were found to have utilized power from dedicated feeder and trunk lines without settling their outstanding bills.

The government has demonstrated a proactive approach by establishing a high-level commission tasked with promptly addressing disputes related to dedicated power feeders and trunk lines allocated to industries. This commission is expected to expedite investigations and facilitate swift resolutions to ensure the smooth functioning of industrial operations.

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining continuity, the NEA has assured that power supply to the affected industries will remain uninterrupted throughout the commission’s investigation period. The authority is committed to providing a reliable power source to these industries until the government makes decisions based on the findings of the commission.

According to recent NEA reports, 61 industries still have outstanding dues, with 24 of them experiencing power cuts in recent weeks due to non-payment. The decision to reconnect power supply reflects the government’s commitment to supporting the industrial sector while ensuring fair and transparent resolution mechanisms for outstanding financial obligations.
