Under the chairmanship of Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, who arrived in Oman’s capital, Muscat, to participate in the inaugural meeting of the consultation mechanism between Nepal and Oman, a significant audio-visual meeting took place. The meeting included ambassadors, acting ambassadors, consuls general, labor counselors, and labor assistants from the Nepali Mission.
The Nepali Embassy in Muscat reported that the meeting featured detailed discussions on several critical issues. Topics included online demand letter verification, domestic women workers, worker rescues, compensation, management of deceased workers’ bodies, and other labor-related problems and solutions. Additionally, discussions covered trade, investment, tourism, employment promotion, and resource management at the Nepali Mission.
During the meeting, Secretary Lamsal emphasized the importance of making service delivery simple, transparent, and effective by adopting the online process for demand letter verification, aligning with the government’s policy of implementing digital governance. He also highlighted the necessity for all involved to play a meaningful role in ensuring that foreign employment is orderly and dignified, addressing workers’ issues proactively. Furthermore, Secretary Lamsal instructed the attendees to work actively toward the promotion of economic diplomacy.
This meeting marks a significant step in enhancing the bilateral relationship between Nepal and Oman, focusing on improving the conditions and management of Nepali workers in Oman while promoting economic ties between the two nations.
