Nepal Embassy in Oman Begins Issuing Labour Permits

The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat, Oman, has officially started issuing labour permits for Nepali workers who are legally employed in Oman but have not obtained the permit from Nepal.
The first live enrollment for the legalization of labour permits abroad was conducted on January 31, 2025, in Salalah, Oman. According to a statement issued by the Embassy on Tuesday, this initiative is expected to provide significant benefits to Nepali workers in accordance with Nepal’s labour policies.
Nepali Ambassador to Oman Dornath Aryal expressed confidence that this new service would greatly assist Nepali workers by granting them access to various employment-related benefits. He also emphasized the importance of the social security fund, legal remittance transfers, and adherence to the rules and cultural norms of the host country.
Director General of the Department of Foreign Employment, Surya Bahadur Khatri, congratulated all those involved in this milestone event and highlighted its significance for Nepali migrant workers.
Nepali workers in attendance expressed their appreciation for the Embassy’s ongoing services, including passport renewal, labour permit legalization, and other consular assistance in Salalah, a city located about 1,100 kilometers from Muscat. Representatives from the Nepali Social Club, volunteers, and Nepali community organizations actively participated in the program.
Nepali workers currently employed in Omani companies without prior labour permits from Nepal can now obtain them at the Embassy in Muscat. To complete the process, workers must create a profile through the FEIMS system, upload necessary documents, submit an online application, and visit the Embassy in person for biometric verification.
