Nepal Falls Short Against Tanzania in Women’s T20 Series

In the ongoing four-nation women’s T20 cricket series in Hong Kong, Nepal faced defeat against Tanzania, falling short by 27 runs in their pursuit of victory.

Chasing a target of 116 runs set by Tanzania, Nepal’s batting struggled, managing to score only 88 runs in 16.5 overs before being all out. Sita Rana Gar emerged as the top scorer for Nepal with 43 runs, while captain Indu Burma contributed 15 runs.

Nepal encountered a challenging start as openers Bindu Rawal and Jakan Khadka failed to score, and another opener, Pooja Mahato, could only manage 3 runs before getting out with the team total at 11 runs.

Despite efforts from Kajal Shrestha and captain Burma to stabilize the innings, Nepal continued to lose wickets, and key player Rubina Chhetri was run out without facing a single ball. Sita Ranamar and Burma shared a 17-run partnership, but Sita was eventually caught out, leading to the team’s ninth wicket fall with a score of 87 runs.

Earlier in the match, Tanzania had set a target of 115 runs, scoring 115/7 in 20 overs. Hudda Omri and Aisha Mohammed were the leading run-scorers for Tanzania with 25 and 21 runs, respectively. Nepal’s bowling effort saw Sangeeta Rai taking 2 wickets, while captain Burma, Rubina Chhetri, and Pooja Mahato each claimed 1 wicket.

Despite the setback, Nepal will continue its campaign in the tournament, facing Hong Kong on Thursday and Japan on November 18, aiming to bounce back with strong performances.
