Nepal Police Urges Caution Amid Monsoon Highway Obstructions

The Nepal Police has issued a warning to the public, urging travelers to assess road conditions before embarking on long journeys due to monsoon-induced highway obstructions. Central Police spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki emphasized the importance of verifying road conditions to avoid being stranded.

Floods and landslides triggered by relentless monsoon rains have rendered a dozen roads inoperable. The police have highlighted the likelihood of further disruptions as rains continue and have provided contact numbers for updates: 100 (General Police), 103 (Traffic Police), 104 (Children at Risk Coordination Centre), and 1113 (Police Complaints).

In addition, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has advised the public to take extra precautions following a weather notice from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, predicting cloudy conditions and widespread rainfall for the next three days.
