Nepal Set for Asia Cup Debut Tomorrow, Faces Pakistan in Opening Clash

Nepal is gearing up for its first-ever appearance in the Asia Cup and is all set to take on Pakistan in a highly anticipated opening match. The historic encounter is scheduled for August 30th at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

In a remarkable validation of their growing cricketing prowess, Nepal secured their spot in the Asia Cup by emerging victorious in the ten-team ACC Men’s Premier Cup held in April-May. Their triumph in the tournament saw them outshine established teams like UAE and Hong Kong.

The forthcoming clash between Nepal and Pakistan is not just a significant sporting event but also a momentous day of celebration for the Nepali cricketing community. Regardless of the outcome on the field, this marks a monumental milestone in Nepal’s cricket journey.

Rohit Paudel will lead the Nepali squad as skipper during their debut in the Asia Cup 2023. On the opposing side, Babar Azam will captain the Pakistani team in the tournament. Notably, this match will be the first-ever encounter between Nepal and Pakistan in any format of cricket.

The Nepali team, having arrived in Pakistan six days prior, is preparing for the encounter. Notably, Sandeep Lamichhane, who had faced legal issues, joined his teammates in Pakistan on Monday to contribute to Nepal’s campaign in the Asia Cup.

Following their match against Pakistan, Nepal’s journey in the tournament will continue as they face India on September 2nd. This fixture will be held in Kandy, Sri Lanka, offering further opportunities for Nepal.
