Nepal Sets New Paddy Production Record

Nepal has surpassed all previous records in paddy production during the fiscal year 2080/81 BS, according to a report released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.

The nation witnessed an astounding production of 5,724,234 metric tons of paddy, marking the highest yield in its history. This remarkable accomplishment stands in stark contrast to the previous fiscal year, 2077/78, where paddy production stood at 5,621,710 metric tons.

Despite a marginal decrease of 0.61 percent in the production area (8800 hectares), the current fiscal year has seen a significant 4.97 percent increase in paddy production, showcasing the resilience and efficiency of Nepal’s agricultural sector, as reported by the ministry.

Notably, the Koshi Province emerged as the frontrunner in paddy production, recording the highest yield. This success underscores the efforts and agricultural practices adopted in the region. In contrast, the Karnali Province reported the lowest production figures, prompting discussions on potential measures to enhance agricultural productivity in the area.

This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of Nepalese farmers, coupled with advancements in agricultural technology and practices. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development anticipates that this record-breaking paddy production will not only contribute to ensuring food security but will also have positive implications for the country’s economy.

Nepal celebrates this milestone as a testament to the resilience of its agricultural sector and looks forward to building on this success in the coming years.
