Nepal Stock Exchange Ends Week on High Note: NEPSE Records 0.67% Gain

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) concluded the week with a surge, as the index closed today’s trading session with a notable gain of 13.51 points, marking a 0.67% increase. The bullish trend settled the index at 2,030.55 points by the end of Thursday’s trading.

In line with the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which mirrors the performance of ‘A’ class stocks, also experienced a positive movement, rising by 0.53%. Similarly, the float index, indicating actively traded shares, witnessed a commendable increase of 0.71%.

Today’s market presented a predominantly optimistic outlook, with the Non-Life insurance sector leading the gainers with a notable increase of 1.56%. Following closely behind was the hydropower sector, registering a growth of 1.14%. However, three sectors—Trading, Hotels and Tourism, and Mutual Funds—experienced declines of 0.79%, 0.25%, and 0.24%, respectively.

Despite fluctuations in certain sectors, the overall market sentiment favored positivity, with 176 companies recording advances, 59 experiencing declines, and 11 remaining unchanged. Peoples Hydropower Company Limited (PHCL) notably stood out, witnessing a remarkable 10% increase in its share values.

Although the market sentiment was largely upbeat, the daily market turnover observed a slight decline compared to Wednesday’s figures. Today’s intra-day turnover amounted to Rs 3.1 billion, exchanged through 8,929,152 units of shares across 309 companies in 47,699 transactions—slightly lower than Wednesday’s recorded turnover of Rs 3.4 billion.

Despite the minor dip in turnover, the total market capitalization remained substantial, standing at Rs 3.191 trillion, reflecting a resilient and robust market environment.

Investors and analysts are optimistic about the market’s trajectory, with expectations of continued stability and growth in the coming sessions.
