Nepal Stock Exchange Halts Trading as NEPSE Skyrockets by 6%!

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has announced the suspension of share trading for today after the NEPSE index surged by 6 percent. This decision comes after a series of trading halts as the index experienced rapid increases throughout the day.

Initially, trading was halted for 20 minutes when the NEPSE benchmark index increased by 4 percent immediately after the market opened. Following this, trading was suspended for 40 minutes after the index witnessed an uptick of 5 percent.

NEPSE spokesperson Murahari Parajuli confirmed that today’s trading was suspended again after the index climbed by 6 percent. The NEPSE index reached 2078 points, marking a significant increase of 117.70 points.

During today’s trading session, the share prices of five different companies experienced a positive circuit, while 230 companies saw an increase in their share prices. Only two companies experienced a decline in share prices.

In total, 934,919 units of shares from 237 companies were traded in the market today, with a total turnover of Rs 375,209,978.
