Nepali Workforce Expands Globally with 699,841 Nationals Seeking Employment Abroad in the Past Year

In a remarkable trend, a staggering 699,841 Nepali nationals embarked on journeys abroad in pursuit of employment opportunities over the past year. This figure encompasses both individuals obtaining new permits and those renewing existing ones, highlighting the significant role international employment plays in the lives of a substantial segment of the Nepali population.

During this period, an astounding 424,480 individuals secured new labor permits, showcasing the growing ambition and resilience of the Nepali workforce in the global job market.

The month of Mangsir, marking the conclusion of the Nepali calendar, emerged as the pinnacle of departures, witnessing 71,276 individuals acquiring labor permits to work in 108 different countries. Of this total, 36,080 individuals obtained new labor permits, as reported by the Department of Foreign Employment.

The year witnessed noteworthy departures in various months, with 65,464 in Paush, 64,284 in Magh, 62,845 in Falgun, 61,478 in Chaitra, 54,457 in Baisakh, 59,422 in Jestha, 55,299 in Ashard, 55,575 in Shrawan, 50,884 in Bhadra, 56,235 in Ashwin, and 43,622 in Kartik.

This data underscores the undeniable trend of Nepali citizens seeking opportunities beyond their borders, emphasizing the crucial role of international employment in shaping the livelihoods and aspirations of a considerable portion of the Nepali populace.
